Problems with October Rating Supplement using SwissSys 7

Some of the names in the October rating are in lower case with a space between Last, First, and others are all caps with no space between LAST,FIRST. It seems anyone who played during the period covered by the October supplement is in this new format, whereas players who I may have in my taratsup.dbf, taratsup.ndx files that did not play during the period are in the old format.

In Swiss-Sys this is a problem because unless you type the name exactly the way it appears on the file you don’t get a match. It used to be I could type the name in all lower case and get the name to come up. Now it seems I have to capitalize the first letter and lower case the rest other wise I won’t get a match.

Is anyone else having this problem with version 7 or with earlier versions of SwissSys, or Win TD?

There were no changes made to the program in the last few weeks that would have changed how we handle names.

Are you using the October supplement file or the October Gold Master file?

These two files need to be handled differently.

I’m using the October supplement file. The way names are appearing in my file in this format:

Wright, Polly P.

Prior to October they appeared as WRIGHT,POLLY P.

I do my download and update through Swiss-Sys. I sent an email to Thad to ask him if Swiss 7 is now case sensitive or if the program has changed how it indexes.
