question about Fritz 11

I am considering purchasing “Fritz 11” and I was hoping that someone that already owns it could answer a question for me. I dislike having to reinsert the disc or having to run the program off the disc. I realize that this is part of the copy protection plan, but would like to be made aware if I’m going to have to deal with this before I purchase it. I have software that I avoid using because inserting the disc is to much of a bother. Does anyone know if this software has any problems along these lines?

You should have to insert the disk just for the first time after you install the program. Once I entered my product number and the program verified the CD once, I put my CD into my desk drawer and haven’t needed it since.

I’m not certain, but if you already have Fritz 11 installed and later do a software update for it, it may require you to reinsert the disc one time only.

Thank you very much for your answer, that is exactly what I wanted to know.

I only had to insert the disc upon the install, maybe the one time after also for some strange reason. Also once I was futzing around with files, moving them around directories, and it made me insert the disc (I ended up just doing a re-install anyway, I probably loused up the execution anyway with the tinkering).

By the way, I heartilly recommend Fritz. Yeah, I know it’s not the absolute strongest program. Big deal, like, they’re all 1000 points above my last rating anyway what’s the difference. But Fritz is the smoothest, most intuitive, most stable, user-friendly program of them all. Just my opinion, maybe others can disagree on this, but that’s been my experience. I’m still on Fritz 10 by the way, only due to the desire to desperately cut down, clear debts, etc. I’ll get the even number Fritz’s (reminds me of my dad’s line about going to some woman’s wedding: “Bruce, why don’t you just go to the even-numbered weddings”)

This is not true ! How can you say that ? Did you ever use the Shredder-GUI, or Arena etc ?

I ordered “fritz 11” and it came yesterday. I think I like it fine so far. It does install on the HDD and runs without the dvd installed in dvd drive.
It automatically adjusts its playing level to mine. I only enjoy chess when I don’t know if I’m going to win or lose. It has little arrows that tell you if you are leaving a piece hanging, and that was difficult to turn off. I get sloppy and leave pieces hanging, and the computer needs to take them and teach me to be more careful, so as to avoid doing it at a tournament with a live opponent
