Is this true? “There is no place on the on line form for
site location.” I am not connected with any USCF affiliate so I can’t check
this statement. I told the TD of a tournament held in Seattle that it was listed on
the crosstable on the USCF website that it had been held in Tacoma. He replied
the above quote. If there is no place on the form I guess the address of the
affiliate is automatically listed as the site.
Is this referring to a rating report or to a TLA?
All TLAs (including free online TLAs) have a place for the city, state and ZIP code of the tournament site.
There are also fields for reporting the city, state and ZIP code of the tournament site as part of rating reports. (We also check that the ZIP code matches the city and state for events held in the USA.)
USCF rated online events are a bit more complicated, since there is no tournament site. The submitting TD has to supply SOMETHING in those fields, most likely where the affiliate is. However, there is also a checkbox for ‘Online event’ in the section information area of the online reporting form.
Could a crosstable on MSA have an incorrect city/state/ZIP? Sure. Corrections to rated events need to come from the TD, though.
It was the rating report I was writing about. I don’t think the event had a TLA.
