RexChess by Kaufman

To USCF members,
I have come across a computer chess program called RexChess 2.30. It is an old DOS program that GM Larry Kaufman helped develop back in the 1980s. I have a question about the function of one of the programs playing options. When you select Options (ALT+O) you are presented with a window of the various options, one of which is Selectivity (S). When pressing S key, it cycles thru On, W, B, Off modes of operation. I would like to know what this option does, but there is no manual of operation that I can find (the game was never published, so there is no “owners manual”).

What I would like to do is send a PM to Mr. Kaufman thru the USCF messaging process, if it is possible to even send PMs with the USCF system. There are some problems with this desire… is Mr. Kaufman even still a member of the USCF? If so, why doesn’t doing a Search function reveal him?

Thank you folks for any enlightenment.

GM Kaufman shows up on a search for me. http://www.uschess.org/msa/MbrDtlMain.php?10179416

Thank you for your reply.
I see no way to PM Mr. Kaufman, or I’m just not seeing it. I am new to the modern USCF (was a member last century, recently rejoined), and am not very proficient with finding out how to PM other members. Any help is appreciated.

You can only send a PM to somebody that bothered to register. The PM will only be read by somebody who signs on to read it (I’ve sent PMs to active forum posters that have gone unread for weeks or months - some were never read).

He was a TD in the past so I took a look at the expired TD contact information (in TD/A) but none was given for him. You may want to check with the MD chess association.

I see. Yes, you are correct.

He is playing in the Washington Congress.

If you post your email, I will show this to him.

Thank you. I can be reached at “scamp55@cfl.rr.com” - minus quotes.
