THE HISTORICAL ORIGINS OF CHESS IN ANCIENT INDIA

Greetings,

Tonight is round 2 of the July Swiss 90 (4SS, G/90+30, $10 entry, prizes, USCF-rated). Friday is the IHOP Quick (4SS, G/24d5, $5 entry, prizes, Quick-rated).

The Scudder brothers won the 1st Colorado Bughouse championship!

Rhett Langseth could not handle the truth against team Code Red (Renae & Brian) in the bughouse championship (below), as he was saving his energy to win the Northgate Open and cross 2100!

Renae & Brian

I was unable to attend the weekend’s events as I was playing chess as a monk with Jeff Fox at the Colorado Renaissance Festival. I could have gone unbeaten, but Dean Clow showed up and beat me.

This week’s position comes from the Renaissance period, from the 1st recorded chess game. It is black to move.
