Unnecessary rules

This made me think of the late, unlamented 175-move rule: is.gd/7oYFuI

If we could eliminate or streamline the Rulebook so it fits in a squeezy chess bag, which rules would/should go?

Bill Hall had suggested the possibiliy of a PLAYER’S rulebook and a DIRECTOR’S rulebook.

The latter needs the pairing rules (for example), the former does not.

…and of course the MONSTER’S manual.

Right. I meant more “Which un-needed rules should be trimmed from either or both the directors’ and players’ rulebooks?” The game linked above made me think of the 175-move rule from the 4th Edition. Also the thread on halt-at-end being preferred or not…and so on.

Micah has helped me see the light. Simpler is better.

Any preferred by he who shall not be named… :smiling_imp: :unamused: :open_mouth:   :sunglasses:

Player’s Rulebook needs only Rule 1.
Director’s Rulebook needs the rest.

But seriously, I’d simply reiterate my plea that if possible the written rulebook be published in a replaceable page binder format, so that rules changes can be directly integrated into the book every year. (And while it may seem the same, I’d happily pay for such a book and supplements every year rather than print an electronic copy myself.)

It really shouldn’t have to be two separate books, just one book with two separate and well defined parts should avoid D&D-itis.
