world open 2013

I may be going to Arlington, Va July 3rd. If I was fotunate enough to win a cash prize U1800, how long would I wait for my check?

I played in World Open three times I believe and was fortunate to win the prize twice.

My recollection is that if you stay on-site till all the games in your section are finished and prize are calculated you can get check right there.

If you decide to leave early it is another story. You would need to leave your Name, address and SSN # (if the prize is substantial >$500) and I recall that at recently concluded NCC tournament they said that it may take them long time to process and mail you a check (like 4-6 weeks).

Whatever I stated here is unofficial, if you want to be sure, contact CCA directly via e-mail, which you can find at their website: chesstour.com.

Good luck in World Open!

At the World Open that’s only true in the Under 2000 section and higher. All prizes are mailed in the Under 1800 section and below.

If you’re winning $600 or more you need to give your name, address and SSN to a tournament director, as well as showing a photo ID to verify your identity. It may take up to four weeks for the checks to be mailed.

Thanks for corrections, my experience was with U2000 and U2200 sections only.
