Ticket generated. The state check seems to have issues, and should probably be bypassed completely for large multi-state events (if that’s not already the case.)
It might be a weak substitute for the ‘possible incorrect ID’ checks the legacy system had.
As long as it’s accurate, I think it’s probably a Good Thing. Being the sort who makes mistakes, I appreciate being checked up on. But false positives don’t help. BTW, for me it seems to happen much more often with JTPs than regular members, although I don’t have any hard statistics to back that up.
Let’s say that your tournament has 2 people from out of state playing in your tournament. Is this a small matter to clear up during the submission/validation process for MUIR? Really, 2 people from out of state could easily be playing in your hometown tournament. Is this flag easily dealt with?
The flag is easily dealt with - it is not a fatal error. This may just be a little personal quirk of mine, but I prefer my software to be accurate, even if mistakes are easily dealt with.
I’m taking entries for a reasonably large tournament (300+ players). Every now and then I submit my entries for validation to spot membership problems. Yesterday I had only about half a dozen entries, so rather than start fresh with new files from WinTD I added the new entrants to my previous submission directly on MUIR. All of those came back with the wrong state warning, all erroneous. Sometimes things fix themselves overnight, but this morning I got the same results. Oh, and these were NOT JTPs.
Definitely not a front-burner issue, but perhaps something that can be fixed sometime.
Don’t take what I said in the previous post to be directed at you personally. But take the post as to mean “your” in the sense of “Nolan.” I am not trying to pick on him; but , perhaps, it is that he is the go to person on this forum. Second, couldn’t it be a common thing that people from out of state play in non home town tournaments? It isn’t an unusual occurrence, right?
Regarding my previous post, I just now tried a little experiment and submitted my entries with fresh files from WinTD. The original out of state errors are still there, but the players who gave me errors when entered directly via MUIR no longer show up as errors. So, identical players but different results. Software works in wonderous ways.
Congratulations on being able to direct tournaments with 300 people. I am looking to increase my capability for directing in the future. Have there ever been any hard times to deal with on the floor as a TD? I have directed officially only 1 time so far, but had no hang ups.
Although, I might could have repaired 4 players in the last round of the tournament that the software had already paired. The software let someone have White for the 3rd time in a row on the last round, which is a Variation Exception, but had I been smart enough and Quick enough, I may have been able to repair it with a transposition or interchange.
