Probably because your browser is not configured to open PDF files in Adobe Reader.
When I download it, it takes only a second (using dial-up), and it’s only 11.5 KB long. That’s the shortest .PDF file I’ve ever seen.

My guess would be that someone got a PDF creator and really wanted to use the new toy.
I’ve tried it on three different computers, both columns came up fine on all three.
I’ve had problems with Acrobat on the oldest of those PCs (Win98) if I have too many other tasks running.
What kind of computer and what version of Acrobat are you using? What else did you have open?
