Deleting name

In the online form, is there an easy way to delete a player once they’re added? I suppose I could just clear all the results, but I was wondering if there was an easier way

Which form are you talking about?

If it’s a membership form, you can delete it.

I mean the form for editing a tourmament
(secure.uschess.org/TD_Affil/tnmt_edit.php)
There is a button for adding a player, but not one for deleting one. I can leave the line blank with no results, but I was wondering if there was a way to clean this up by deleting the blank line. Maybe it doesn’t matter

For a variety of reasons, we require that all pairing numbers be assigned without any gaps, even if there are no ratable games for that pairing number. This makes it easier for us to check that your tournament isn’t missing any data.

If you have a player who didn’t show and doesn’t have a current USCF ID, you can use the ID 25000000 for that line in the crosstable.

I think the pairing programs offer an option to drop any players from the crosstable if they had no ratable games and re-number everyone in the crosstable. That may be something we add in the future, but for now that seems to me to be more of a ‘nice-to-have’ option than a ‘must-have’ one.

Mike - I think I have a close relative of the same question but don’t know if your answer solves my problem. In my case, I was viewing the wrong section and added several new players via the button provided. As a result, I now have a handful of new player lines added to the bottom of a section that doesn’t need them. There is no way to delete these extra players? I’ve put in the 25000000 ID that you suggested and now have about a dozen players with duplicate IDs. If I submit the event, will that section show up with those extra, dummy players on the bottom of my MSA crosstable? The only option that I can see would be to delete this entire event (not just the section) and start over even though I already have sections entered successfully. Any other options?

It is much harder to delete players than to add them. (There’s also a question of where to put the ‘delete this player’ button.)

You may want to consider deleting the whole thing and starting over.

Eventually I’d like to add the ability to delete unneeded players,
delete sections, add sections by uploading them to an event that is still being edited and possibly even to add a section to an event after it’s been rated. But those are low priority tasks, and there are still several dozen medium to high priority tasks on the list.
