Floor 400 points below rating?

What are the rules for very high floor ratings, as these two do not seem to be playing by the same rules as the rest of us (for more reasons than one)?

Peak rating based floors only go to 2100. Money prize floors only go to 2000.

OLM floors get a 2200 floor. I would have thought Stuart would have had the 300 games it takes to get the OLM title, but it appears his most active days were before 1991 and we have no detailed history from back then. He’d have to appeal to the office to request the OLM title be granted, I doubt he cares enough about it to do that.

There are no floors higher than 2200.

How does Nakamura have a 2200 quick rating floor? Doesn’t the OLM floor only apply to the regular rating?

Apparently he was assigned a 2200 quick floor in 2003, under the ratings system that existed prior to the one I wrote in 2004-5.

His 2200 regular floor was assigned in 2000, perhaps when he earned an OLM, although it doesn’t show on his record.

These floors, like other manual ratings adjustments in that era, could be entered by several people at the office and there was no record kept of who made them, when or why.

I’m told there was a time when US GMs were assigned a 2200 floor, but nobody I ever talked to (including Judy and Joan, who worked with at the office for decades) was sure exactly when it was in effect much less when or why it was discontinued.
