How do we find TDs?

There used to be a page where we could find TDs by State and level. It seems to be gone. How do we find TDs in MUIR? API does not seem to have such a capability.

I am hoping it is there even if not being updated & we just need a link to get there directly.

You might try the database of SafeSport certified TDs: SafeSport Certified TDs | US Chess.org

You can filter by state, although it won’t show the TD certification level, iirc.

If you go to the ā€˜TD Experience’ tool on your member dashboard, there’s a link in the TD Experience tool to the ā€˜Search for TDs by State’ tool.

I don’t know when we’ll have these capabilities on MUIR, but the legacy systems won’t be shut down until we do.

Thanks. That helps. Is it still being updated?

Yes and sort-of. The member and TD certification information is still being updated from the membership system twice a day, but the TD history records for events entered on MUIR have to be ported over manually. I’ve been doing that about once a week.

I’ve also asked a question about SafeSport certification. Most records are marked as ā€˜Completed’ but there are some marked as ā€˜Logged’ and I don’t know what that means.

When I click the ā€œTD Experienceā€ link, I am immediately returned to my dashboard.
Here is the direct link to the TD Experience page on the legacy site. https://secure2.uschess.org/TD_Affil/td_search.php

This is going to sound really strange.

But, did you try clicking on the TD experience link 3-4 times in a row?

I used to have to click on it 3 times and the 3rd time it would finally redirect to TD experience instead of the dashboard.

I am guessing it is something in the browser cache history that causes it.

I have no idea why clicking on the same link 3 times in a row causes the system to finally redirect to the correct page though. (If that is the issue you are experiencing)

Anyways… I know it’s a strange request, but I do recommend giving it a try to see if it works.

I agree, it’s weird, but it need a token (from Drupal) and for some reason it doesn’t always get one.

If the page is being cached at CloudFlare that might explain it.

Yes, after 3 clicks, it does seem to work.
Annoyance-yes, severity-minor.

It’s an interim solution, but I don’t know where a MUIR-hosted TD experience/search tool is on the project list.

This link has only returned me to the dashboard across 2.5 browsers (Chrome, Chrome Incognito, Brave [never previously used for US Chess]) and double-digit attempts.

Are you logged in to your member dashboard?

Yes, I am logged into my member dashboard (I was clicking the forum link above, requiring the login). On two of the three tests I explicitly had just logged in before following the relevant link.

My attempt failed three times in a row. Then I selected an affiliate and went into the affiliate page (no TD experience button available) and went back to my dashboard. Clicking the link this time took me to the page and also gave the link to search for TDs by state.

I don’t see ā€œTD Experienceā€ on my dashboard. I’m not a TD but do run an affiliate. I had a TD try it and he sees it but has the same problem of it not linking properly. I told him to try a couple of times.
Do you need to be a TD to see it? Ideally, affiliates should be able to see it.

I tested pasting the link in from each of my accessible affiliates and was returned to my dashboard each time.

I think I’ve got this fixed, it was weird because it was working fine for me but not for Korey, so I’m not sure if it is working for everyone yet. It might take a couple times to clear out cache, but that should be a one-time thing.

That worked for me too.

The link should be right below your list of authorized affiliates. Two button links, one to the forum and one to the TD search
