I can’t believe that I’m not on the list!!!
So, you’re 102! (for some reason, the top 100 has 101 names!)
Because numbers 99, 100 & 101, all have the same rating.
I;m curious if the World Cup results are included in Kamsky’s rating. I would think it would be higher with wins over Svidler and Shirov.

One lucky tournament?
This is the highest his rating has ever been.

Is it really a lucky tournament? Unique, yes. Unlike most elite events, where you know who you will play weeks ahead of time to prepare, the World Cup gives a very limited time to prepare for an opponent. Natural chess skill plays a greater role in the results. PLayers weaned on swiss events, (Americans!), should do better in this format, once they get by the first round.

I sure wish I had some of that luck.
Gata is a man of mystery. He is the same age as Kramnik and Topalov, yet he has little record of past performance. His luck may be the fact he is not an active chess player.
I just feel vindicated that at least one player from my generation, Beliavsky, can still perform at a level to be in the top 100! He must be the next Korchnoi!
