Reported problems with upload files on MUIR

We’ve had multiple reports of problems with upload files from TDs. We have asked that if you have a problem, send the 3 DBF files to ratings-support@uschess.org so we can have Leago test them.

However, in some cases what has worked is to go back to your pairing program and have it generate a new set of upload files. I can’t explain why it helps, I just know it sometimes does.

If we have technical issues on the site itself, unrelated to the files, would we email the same email? I have added one tournament assistant and can’t add another. I search for the name, click on the results, and…nothing happens. Tried refreshing first, same result.

Yes, please use ratings-support for any questions regarding running events on MUIR.

I submitted 3 DBF files yesterday and there was no issue with uploading them. However, our tournament is still not rated. Tournaments that were conducted after ours are showing up in the latest rated events.

I have sent those files to the ratings support now. Please let me know if I need to upload files again. Thanks!

There is a bug that is causing some events to get hung up in ‘Submitted’ mode and never rated, several dozen events are in that state.

They’re working on a fix for this.

Most, but not quite all of these stuck events have been rated now.

Mike, I gather that this is a problem after the files successfully upload? Right now I’m having the problem that my files don’t upload. I pick my files, hit import, and almost immediately get an error message: Error: An unexpected server error occurred. I’ve tried it with WinTD and Swiss-Sys files and a couple of browsers. Anyone else having that problem? I did report it.

Nope, the error right after you hit the button is the one we’re getting for multiple users.

You can send us your DBF files to add to the collection.

Nice to know I’m not alone - I think! I sent the files to the email
address you gave for reporting problems.

Misery loves company isn’t very satisfying, because what we all want is for whatever’s causing the files to fail to be handled better.

Absolutely. Good luck.

After 20+ years of “It’ll get fixed by Mike soon”, it’s frustrating for me not to be on the inside of solving the problem.

Ya know, I’ve thought this might be a frustrating experience for you!

I”ve pretty much spent the last year teaching Leago how it’s supposed to work but without tying their hands on system design, so yeah it’s kind of frustrating to see thing happening that shouldn’t happen.

Leago says the problem with failed uploads is that the system doesn’t think they’re signed in to the TD Portal so it’s getting a ‘no permissions’ error when it tries to create the upload files (or something like that.) That sounds like another issue with the authentication process, so I’ve passed that on to the person who works with that.

I haven’t tried this yet, and my staff access may mean I get different results than other TDs do, but one possible approach to try is logging out of the member dashboard at new.uschess.org, logging in again, and then selecting the affiliate and the tournament rating reports link to get to the TD portal.

Okay, this time when I went to the portal it asked me to sign in. Did so and the files uploaded.

hmm, did you take a different path to get to the portal than before?

I don’t understand how someone can be in the TD portal without being logged in, that seems impossible. I still think there’s something screwy with the login process. And if you’re in the TD portal but not logged in, how do you know that, and more importantly, how do you fix that?

I did not. I clicked on my bookmark with my usual browser. Okay, just
closed my browser without signing out, opened it, clicked on my
bookmark, went to the site, did not have to sign in this time, uploaded
some files and it worked perfectly. What it means I have no idea, but I
hope it means something is fixed.

oops, message got posted twice.

There was a fix made for a login problem, which may solve some of the upload problems, others appear to be file-related, so if you get an error when uploading, keep sending us the files.
