Looks like the opening of MUIR will be delayed until Sunday, hopefully at noon CT. There are some payment processing issues that are being worked on.
BTW, don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour tonight.

It seems to be working now, although I’ve got a spinning “Rating in progress” screen after the tournament has already been rated.
Yup, things are open and events are being submitted and rated.
The US Chess staff will be answering phones this afternoon if people have problems, or you can use the ratings-support@uschess.org email address or post here in the Forums, we’ll be monitoring those as well.
Tuning the new system for speed will be an ongoing process, let us know where you see significant delays.
Thanks for your patience with yesterday’s launch issues.

Do you know if the old affiliate pages will stick around and if the new affiliate pages will get the list of active players? The active players was a nice feature of the old
Old Page
New Page
Since the MSA tournament database is no longer being updated, that page is no longer current.
I don’t know what legacy pages and features are being ported or when, and I”m not sure what the right channel is to make those requests. I’ll ask.
Please use ratings-support@uschess.org to request new features or porting of features from the legacy systems that haven’t been ported yet. This gets to a combination of IT and member support staff. They will log your request, analyze it and decide whether it is to be ported, and then start the process of designing a new location for it, scheduling and budgeting for it and subsequently assigning the work and tracking testing and implementation.
Some features may not seem popular enough to re-implement.
Okay, I have a question. Just tried validating a K-3 JTP event. All the players are from Indiana, all show IN, but most have a warning sign with “Player state does not match majority. (expected: IN)” Anybody else see something like that?
I’ve seen that, but only where the player for some reason didn’t actually have any state info (or had conflicting state info, but you say that isn’t your issue).
You should be able to request a bypass of that, those are replacing some of the previous system’s '“Doesn’t belong” checks, and this will be an ongoing process.
Even though the players all had IN listed, I clicked on them and manually added IN. That did make those warnings go away, but now all the members without a regular membership are flagged. Is JTP not incorporated yet? For some I get a dual error: Member Expired & Membership Inactive. For others, just the Member Expired message. If I try to submit, I get a place to check that says I can submit and staff will review it. Is that how we’ll have to do JTP sections?
Expect some clumsiness at first, but let ratings-support@uschess.org know about it and it’ll get on the work lists.
The old system had 20 years of tweaks and enhancements, the new system will go through the same process over time. And part of the problem is we don’t really know which features were being used the most. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to put a lot of time into porting a feature few people use.
Understood. Just wanting to know how things work and what to expect, and there is always the ever present danger I’m overlooking something.
Yeah, teaching people what’s available and where to find it is a separate but equally important topic.
Could you tell the website address for MUIR? I went to the member services area and clicked on what I thought might take me to MUIR to enter a tournament, but it doesn’t go to MUIR.
They should be updating the ‘Tournament Rating Reports’ link on the affiliate dashboard to go to this page: https://ratings.uschess.org You will need to log in to the member dashboard (Drupal) to gain access to the TD portal, which is why the preferable route, once it’s been changed, is to go through your member dashboard like before, as that’s where we validate your TD status.
I believe the link “ Show Ratings History Graphs “ on the old MSA, where it would show Ratings History Graph in post-event ratings, is the most link which the coaches and parents of scholastic players click…
Most of that graph is just displayed on the main page for a player now.
thanks. that’s somewhat true… and with additional three curves (OR, OQ, OB) which old MSA did not show.
the feature of old MSA is Ratings History Graph in post-event ratings, instead of, Ratings History Graph in monthly published ratings
Issues with the live system:
Section chief and section assistant TDs are not pulled in from the DBF import. I used WinTD created files. I haven’t tried SwissSys yet. That will be next.
If a TD is listed as an overall assistant (may also be true with Chief TD) [edit: I originally typed section chief/asst when I meant overall assistants], you cannot put the same person as the main organizer and vice versa.
Suggestion: After selecting a director from the list, it is a little slow in populating the form. It’s not terribly slow. I imagine it’s doing some additional database checks. However, while it is waiting the field is simply blank making you think the selection didn’t take. There should be a waiting icon or some other indicator to let you know it’s still working.
Suggestion: Add a previous/next screen to the bottom of the games pages just like the other pages.
Clicking on the validation page for the first time initially shows members who have recently renewed as expired. Clicking on “Re-validate” then gets the correct information.
Credit card payment screen does not ask for card holder name, which is unusual. Is that a security risk?
I also sent an email to ratings-support@uschess.org.
Several of the above items have either already been logged or are being looked in to.
I think the data for doing the graphs by supplement rating was available before the post-event ratings were, which is why they did it using those. We’ve created a ticket to allow selecting which ratings show, so you don’t get overlapping spaghetti, and whether they are supplement or post-event ratings.
I also think the horizontal and vertical scaling could stand improvement.
