I tried to post a reply to your blog: “Have you thought of starting at the top and working your way down?” but I was defeated by not knowing what website I was supposed to attach to my response. I myself don’t have one.

I will assume that the 2000 rating you refer to in your Blog is a FIDE rating. Good luck in your efforts. I have noticed that the FIDE web site calendar lists a number of weekend tournaments in England throughout the year, so you will have a number of opportunities to work the rating up. Does moving to England mean you have to play the English opening? :slight_smile:

It can be done. Somebody else from Hawaii and myself, while I was in Hawaii, signed up for the USCF for the very 1st time back in 1999. After our 1st tournament we had a provisional rating in the 1500s. I am now in the 1300s while he is in the 2100s
