I tried to post a reply to your blog: “Have you thought of starting at the top and working your way down?” but I was defeated by not knowing what website I was supposed to attach to my response. I myself don’t have one.
I will assume that the 2000 rating you refer to in your Blog is a FIDE rating. Good luck in your efforts. I have noticed that the FIDE web site calendar lists a number of weekend tournaments in England throughout the year, so you will have a number of opportunities to work the rating up. Does moving to England mean you have to play the English opening?

It can be done. Somebody else from Hawaii and myself, while I was in Hawaii, signed up for the USCF for the very 1st time back in 1999. After our 1st tournament we had a provisional rating in the 1500s. I am now in the 1300s while he is in the 2100s
