Searching for Emory Tate, Jr.

I received the following email today.

Quote

My name is Mike Reed, and I am an old junior high school classmate of Emory
Tate Jr. 6 time Indiana State Chess Champion. We both attended Concord
Junior High, Elkhart Indiana.

Along with a friend, Brett Eldridge, who is managing owner of The Elkhart
Sports Center,…We are hoping, and in the planning stages of a Chess
tournament to be held at his Sports Complex, …and we hoped to name the
tournament in Emory’s honor. Our target is this July, or later, depending
on the availability and approval of Emory.

Would you know how to contact him, or an email address? I read that he
played this Jan. in a California Tournament. Yet have not been able to find
an email address for him.

If anybody has contact information for Emory, I’d appreciate having it. Or perhaps somebody can forward this message to Emory? Thanks for any help.

You can e-mail me at joepye@pobox.com

Try the pipl.com website. Saw several chess pictures on there.

There’s an Emory Tate who is a USCF Life Senior Master and currently listed as living in Alabama, is that the player?

If so, you can contact the USCF office and ask them to forward an email or letter to him, but for privacy reasons they will not give you his mailing address or email address.

Most likely, it’s the Emory Tate who played for the Chicago Blaze. Seems to be the same guy nolan was referring to.

He has a Facebook page. You might try contacting him through that.

Yes, that’s him, but I don’t think he can be contacted through that Facebook page. But I think I have found another way to contact him. Thanks.

He is currently an instructor with bayareachess.com in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can view more information here: contact@bayareachess.com

Don’t leave us hanging . . . is he gonna do it?

Beats me. I was just helping some folks find him. But if anything comes of it, I’ll let everybody know. I’m sure you’re all looking for a good reason to visit Elkhart, Indiana!

Like buying an RV filled with band instruments.

My first thoughts too. We had a travel trailer from there, even visited the factory to see how they did the fiberglass work.
