(I’m not sure if this should’ve gone in US Chess Issues, so my apologies if this is the wrong forum.)
30.b.b8: Satisfactory performance as Chief TD of two Quick/Blitz Chess Category R tournaments; this TD credit cannot be used if a b7 TD Credit has already been used. This type of TD credit can be used as a substitute only once as a replacement for a single requirement a3 category C tournament.
[1] If I were to run two quick/blitz round robins that meet the requirements of a category R tournament (8 players, 1800 mean) that were held at the same time on the same date and submitted as part of the same tournament (but separate sections), would those both be able to be used for this substitution? I know that the rules state that sections run on the same date could be counted as part of the same tournament, but I think that since they are separate round robins that they would be able to count separately. Also, [2] how would this be submitted on the experience requirement sheet? Would I write in the section next to the b8 requirement in the “Requirement” area in the substitution area, or what else would I do?
Two blitz round robins with the same players on the same day look a LOT like a double-round blitz round robin and thus is indistinguishable from a single event. If they are the same players then they should be on different days so that it is obviously two different events and not one. If there are different players then they can be on the same day, but submit them as different events so that you can list two different tournament IDs on the form. An eight player round robin has 28 games for a $7 rating fee, so submitting them separately does not increase the rating fee amount (they would each be over the $3 minimum anyway). For that matter they can be submitted separately and then paid for together so that there is only one credit card charge for US Chess.

Thank you Jeff. I was considering how it would get really cluttered to submit all the sections separately because when the local club runs the blitz round robins every year, there’s typically 3-4 sections. When that arises, do you recommend to submit the top section as one tournament, and then the rest of the sections as another tournament, so I then have two tournament IDs? I don’t want it to clutter up the events rated list/affiliate tournaments or anything like that, unless that’s not really an issue.
