A recent article by GM Ken Rogoff, but nary a mention of chess:
I understand that he played some blitz against Magnus Carlsen during Carlsen’s recent US visit.
He seems to be a somewhat regular commentator for economic matters on National Public Radio
He co-authored, with Carmen Reinhart, arguably the best book to explain the meltdown associated with the last economic downturn, “This Time It’s Different: Eight Centuries of Financial Folly.” He’s also a chaired professor in the Economics Department at Harvard University.
It’s important that a professor have a comfortable place to sit.
Ken is considered one of the leading experts on international finance, having worked at both the Fed and the IMF, but his work is probably more applied than theoretical, which means he may never earn a trip to Stockholm.
