Today’s Caledonian-Record has this coverage of the Vermont Open with a photo of Rick Davis, who plays with our club in Lyndonville
Why is it that the Caledonian-Record seems to have as much chess coverage as the rest of the mainstream press combined?

Likely because I take the photos, write the blurbs and send them to the editor. They only print them if there is a local hook to the story. In this case, I was happy that he didn’t edit out the sentence about David Carter. Also, despite explaining to the editor what a chess master is and is not, he still calls all chess players masters in the headline. Perhaps he knows something the Tsar was oblivious to.
There are two people in the foreground of the photo. Is one of them David Carter? (I am guessing not.) Which one is Rick Davis? Thanks, just curious.
Davis is on the right. That’s Aedan Taylor on the left.
