I saw a new topic yesterday in “All Things Chess.” At the time I saw it, the statistics showed 0 replies and 41 views. The topic was “California Chess Reporter 1964-1967”. The poster was “samsloan”.
I posted a short reply. I saw my reply get posted.
Today, the topic has disappeared without explanation. When I checked the history of my postings and those of samsloan, I find no record of the topic or my reply.
His post rambled on and on for quite a while. I didn’t see anything related to advertising in it.
Somebody made the topic disappear without any notice, so perhaps we’ll never know the reason why. Is it possible that the current topic I started today, or any topic, can be made to disappear, without notice, by somebody who has a finger on the forum control button? I haven’t been here for a long time, but is that the way this forum works?
The thread was pulled. We generally don’t discuss publicly the reasons for pulling posts or threads. (Exceptions do occur, though.)
That said, it is unfortunate that you weren’t notified. Your post wasn’t the offending one. I apologize for that. I think Ron’s day was as busy as mine was yesterday, and he just didn’t quite have enough time and neither did I. We generally try to notify everyone who has a post pulled.
Sloan’s company has been doing reprints of late - and he’s taken to making long posts in the forums about the topics to essentially advertise the reprints. If its one such post, perhaps its a topic of interest being shared. When there are multiple such posts, a pattern emerges.
