Chess & Alzheimer's study and Head Monk blog with 2025 CSCC Champions

Greetings,

I was contacted to be a part of a Chess & Alzheimer’s study. Sadly, I am too young to participate. :sob:

However, if you would like to help the study, here is the information:

The qualifications required are as follows: 1. Be age 65 or older, 2. Have an at least 8th grade level of education, 3. Be fluent in English, 4. Have no history of neurological conditions.

If you meet these criteria, then you can complete the first part of the study which is the digital prescreening form. You should complete this at your earliest convenience, but if possible, not late at night or in the early morning since that could introduce a confounding variable:

Once you are done with that, if you could send me an email letting me know, that would be greatly appreciated!

In addition, I quickly put together a blog about being head monk this summer for the January Colorado Chess Informant, which included a recap of the 2025 Championship Season at the club. You can view the blog here:

Anmar Almallak tied with Paul Anderson and Mark McGough to split the prize fund in the January Swiss 70.

You might be able to view the ratings report on the new platform here:

Peace be with you,
