Has there been any modification to WinTD for the pairing rule changes in the 5th edition rulebook? SwissSys v. 6 incorporates those changes, but I couldn’t find anything about it on the WinTD web page.
Can we get this question answered?
My version has lots of kinks in it. I have downloaded the patches from estima.com
WinTD has been using the 5th edition rules since its’ last upgrade (vwersion 4), which I believe was out about a year before the rulebook was published. Yep, you got that right. It was using 5th edition rules before the book came out. That was probably due to the fact that the book was ready to go about 12 months before it got published (It had to wait to be reviewd by the delegates and then off to the publisher). I suspect the WinTD folks did not expect that kind of delay–heck as the chief editor I did not expect that kind of delay.
When I last checked the WinTD folks claimed that the “help” menu did not reflect this 5th edition change (despite the fact that the program used the 5th edition rules) and still used the 4th edition rulebook notations and rule numbers in the “help” menus; however, that info comes from about 6-9 months ago. While I do have the most recent upgrade (patch) I have not checked to see if the “help” menu was revised to reflect the use of the 5th edition.
