How long does it take under the new system for a membership renewal to show up at a member’s rating info page? One of my teammates for USATE renewed US Chess dues on Jan. 5 and it still does not show at his member page as of the evening of Jan. 7. In the old system, that info updated almost instantly. Strange.
Update: I just noticed the renewal for the member in question is listed at the old MSA site: US Chess MSA - Main Page
Why is it not updated at the newer better faster site?
It should still show up within minutes, but as with any transfer across the internet, it doesn’t always work. (I haven’t figured out a way to get a failure rate yet, but I think it’s probably under 2%, it should be more like 0.05%.)
TDs should have a link on their member dashboard they can use to sync up to 5 IDs.
Another method that seems to work at least as well if you’re having problems getting a recently added or renewed ID validated is to click the ‘house player’ button twice (once to select and again to turn it off), then revalidate the event. (You may still get a ‘not found’ message but the expiration date should show up, at which point it should pass validation.)
Thanks, Mike. I edited my post to state the renewal is listed at the old MSA site. I did not realize that could still be accessed. I hope it remains accessible until this bug—what Daniel Serna called “a known issue” on FB—gets worked out.
The membership-to-MSA transfer process was a simpler one than the membership-to-MUIR one is. (The latter uses webhooks, which IMHO tend to have a somewhat higher failure rate than simple SSH connections between two sites.)
FWIW, we are transferring on average around 35,000 records a day between the membership system and MUIR (that’s ones that succeeded, I don’t have a way to track failures)
From Daniel Serna on FB: “You can manually sync to MUIR on your affiliate page. Click the link on the right side, then add the US Chess ID number. This will immediately update their record. This is a known issue that is being worked on. It will be fixed in the future, but this is the current workaround.”
I tried it. Worked instantly. Jolly good. If you know the workaround and are part of an affiliate.
You don’t have to drill down to the affiliate page, if you’re a TD that link is the second from the bottom on the right hand side of your member dashboard. (Of course nearly all TDs are authorized by one or more affiliates.)
Members who aren’t TDs can only sync their own membership on their member dashboard.
I think we’ll finally get the MUIR status report up soon, I was helping to update a draft of it yesterday. (A LOT of things changed over the last two weeks, I think part of the challenge has been that every day we see issues resolved and progress on longer term items.)
I’m also hoping we can get a ‘frequent questions’ page for MUIR that we can send people to for questions like this.
Thanks for posting this, I have a player today who said he renewed online himself and I was unable to verify on MUIR. I did find him correctly renewed on MSA, but didn’t think to check that until I saw your post.
I submitted two new memberships last night and they are still shown as unknown in the ratings report. I did the MUIR sync but nothing changed. I did get it to sync with our Affiliate ID. So, I know it can work.
Any suggestions?
