MUIR Player Look Up Not Showing New Members or Updated Expiry Dates

When I look up players for a tournament this weekend, I’m not seeing them listed or membership updated in the new system whereas a search in the old MSA is showing them. Is the new system not updating as fast? A membership for one person at least was not showing up when his father said it was purchased a couple of weeks ago while another who I suspect renewed (with a new ID sadly) is not showing up either. Both show up in MSA.

It looks like as of about 11PM last night, the pull process was working on both renewed and new memberships, so re-validating an event once or twice might clear the problems. I’m not sure exactly where in the process of entering and validating an event that’s done, but around midnight I tried creating a new event online with two IDs that had been generated in the last hour, and it found both of them in the player entry form and I was subsequently able to look them up in the MUIR member search area.

Getting new and updated memberships pushed from the membership system to MUIR may still need a few things to be implemented but it looks like they’re getting close on that, too.

Those would be a major improvement in service!

I process a large amount of US Chess memberships. 10-20 per week.

What I do is I keep a fake tournament on the new rating server called Update US Chess Memberships, every time I process a Membership batch I add them to this (fake) draft tournament and after I have added all the new memberships from my recent batch I run a couple of validation reports so everything syncs to the new system. It has worked like a charm every time so far. I am guessing other large affiliates are possibly doing the same thing that I am doing.

Hopefully the issue with new memberships syncing over to the new system will be resolved soon and I then I can remove my fake (draft) tournament.

I saw your event, good workaround.

Apparently just doing a re-validation isn’t doing a pull, but if you go into that player, delete the ID then re-enter it, that does seem to do the pull.

Clumsy, but it does appear to work.

I have reported this to Leago as any revalidate should be doing a pull to check for an updated membership anyway.

And I just came up with an ID where this trick didn’t work, I don’t know why, but I’ve added it to the support ticket for this issue.

Doing it several times finally worked, must be an issue with the CIVI-CRM server getting backed up with requests or a timing thing. Update: Leago has confirmed there was a queue delay in polling CIVI, looks like they need to throw more resources at that system.

I’m mostly just trying to locate new member ID’s and those that renewed online so that I can update the data in WinTD. We don’t plan to submit the event until tomorrow evening at the earliest. Their old MSA page has the updated information so we’re using that assuming that is correct.

It looks like we’re getting closer to getting push updates to memberships, and pull updates are working most of the time, though they can get backlogged.

So, to rate a tournament, I have to trick the system into finding players?

We’re getting closer to the point where that won’t be necessary, but for now, yes.

This trick does not work for me. Still can’t find the players. It found one, and I selected him, but no update on the games page.

Do I mail in the results? Can I just email the ratings manager?

I’m not sure Korey is working today or checking email.

At least one TD has reported that the same trick for missing/lapsed players (deleting the ID and re-entering it) works for TDs who are coming up as not linked to the affiliate or not safesport certified, certainly worth trying.

Looks like you fell into the other trap that we’re dealing with.

It looks like push updates from the membership system are working now but there’s over a week worth of memberships that didn’t get pushed and I don’t know how easy it will be to force that. Emanuel is working on it, though.

Another thing that has worked for a few people to get around either the missing/lapsed members or the TD/affiliate issues is to upload the event again. Be sure to delete the first one at some point.

The code to push new and updated members from the membership system to MUIR is in place and appears to be working, but there may still be issues with some push failures or with member records that were changed in the last week but not yet pushed, though Emanuel says he pushed several thousand records manually.

Yep, we tried to validate and got 13 errors. We confirmed all are members (new) so will try to re-validate tomorrow. If no luck, may need US Chess assistance.

I just ran a test and of the last 1000 IDs generated on the membership system. Around 762 show up as current dues-paying members, but only around 365 of them have been pushed or pulled to MUIR.

That’s something they’ll have to analyze tomorrow, there may be queuing issues or other explanations for a pull or push to fail.

As of this morning all of the memberships in that list of 1000 IDs (about 25% of which are not current members yet, which may still be an issue with the membership system) are on MUIR.

I’ll check on this again late tonight to see if some new members are still falling through the cracks getting to MUIR.
