Sorry, you have been blocked

When trying to look up my rating on the USCF site, I am met with a message saying I have been blocked. As a paying member, that is pretty bizarre. Anybody know who to contact to get this resolved?

In what part of the world are you located? Recently US Chess has been hit with some kind of denial of service attack apparently coming from locations in Brazil, VietNam and Singapore, and IP addresses traceable to those countries were blocked to stop the attack. However, blocking large blocks of IP addresses can have unintended effects.

Contact member services, and provide your member ID, geographic location and IP address, they should be able to figure out what’s going on.

I believe Mr. Rubsamen is from Hawaii, though I can’t vouch for where he is physically today.

This may not be directly related to the blocking issue that was the initial focus of this topic, but there are reports that extremely high volumes of web hits from places like VietNam have been a problem for other sites, not just US Chess.

One source speculated that these hits are being used to train AI engines, though I don’t see how the US Chess website would be useful in that regard.
